Jonathan Rhys Meyers 'The Tudors' is taking on the legendary role of Dracula in NBC's new fall drama (he's defiantly got the looks and charms to play the famous count)
Vampire's are all the range nowadays and quite frankly I'm looking forward to another more adult take on these immortal beings (True Blood is #1)
The TV show will take place in Victorian London in which our famous count is an American entrepreneur (light bulbs!!) who takes a fancy to Mina (we all know how it ends) while trying to take her away from Harker. Also in the trailer we see what appears to be vampire hunters roaming the rooftops of London 'We thought you were dead' (everyone knows that he always comes back, you have to stake him at least twice) which will add something interesting to the plot.
However I have read negative reviews in which people have criticized the fact that there's a black guy 'Renfield' who appears to be Dracula's butler/associate as in Victorian London during that era you wouldn't see a guy in such a role. I think though that its NBC's way of spinning a new take on the era which I'm okay with as from the trailer he appears to be a character who possibly has two sides to him.
The show will air in Fall this year, yet no release date as been scheduled so who knows it could be either September or October before we see this handsome devil on our screens. I'll keep you posted...
